This wonderful Japanese art, and its use has been declining decade after decade in the last century, due to the great demand for plastic bags that exists today and gift papers. Recovering it as an iconic element, the Zero Waste movement at a global level is slowly returning to its use.
The furoshiki (風 呂 敷) is a traditional square cloth from Japan, which is used to wrap and transport all kinds of objects, clothes, gifts, bottles, books ... anything can be wrapped in a furoshiki.
It began to be used in the Muromachi period (1392-1573), in traditional baths, so as not to confuse or mix clothes. In this way, they used the furoshiki and the clothing was left on it.
Over time its use spread and began to be used by merchants to protect their merchandise or their gifts.
The furoshiki can be made of different fabrics, our favorites always being natural ones, cotton, linen, silk ... Our Furoshiki models, made in the Canary Islands, are made with 100% Natural Cotton fabric, soft, free of dyes and toxins.
